Artist Bio – Tear the Abyss
Tear the Abyss is a genre-blending band fronted by Viscera, the band’s vocalist and central storyteller. The band explores love, hate, inner demons, emotional survival and the fragile border between darkness and strength.
Born from a deeply personal narrative, Tear the Abyss is more than a conventional band. It is a cinematic and emotional world where sound, story and identity merge into one expression. Through his voice, stage presence and artistic persona, Viscera gives physical and emotional form to the story’s depth. The music is heavy, atmospheric and emotionally charged, giving voice to the battles people often carry in silence.
Tear the Abyss does not exist only to entertain. Its purpose is to connect, provoke and stand beside those who feel lost, broken or alone. At its core, the band is about confronting the demons that haunt us — and finding the strength to continue despite them.
The first official release, “What Kind of God”, marks the beginning of Tear the Abyss as an international band. Recorded in Sweden at the legendary Studio Bohus and produced by Swedish producers Niclas Engelin and Oscar Nilsson, the single opens the first chapter of a larger body of work. Three additional songs are planned for release, each expanding the emotional and narrative world of Tear the Abyss.
Niclas Engelin, guitarist in The Halo Effect and former guitarist of In Flames, brings a direct connection to the internationally respected Gothenburg metal scene, while Oscar Nilsson contributes modern production strength, studio experience and a sharp understanding of heavy music. Together, they connect Tear the Abyss to Sweden’s world-renowned rock and metal tradition.
By taking this first major step through Sweden, Tear the Abyss positions itself beyond local borders and into a wider European and international context. Sweden has long been recognized as one of the world’s most influential music nations, especially within rock, metal, pop and modern music production. For Tear the Abyss, this Swedish connection is not only a production choice — it is a strategic bridge between a deeply personal artistic vision and the global music scene.
With “What Kind of God” and the upcoming releases, Tear the Abyss enters a new chapter with the weight, depth and professional sound required to reach beyond borders. The title itself reflects the band’s emotional core: a confrontation with power, pain, belief, abandonment and the questions people ask when they stand face to face with their own darkness.
Musically, Tear the Abyss moves across genres rather than staying confined within one. Heavy elements, cinematic atmosphere, emotional storytelling and modern rock/metal energy are woven together to create a sound that is both intense and vulnerable. The result is a band that speaks to listeners who are drawn to music with meaning, darkness, honesty and emotional impact.
Tear the Abyss is not simply a band name. It is a world. A story. A confrontation with pain, resilience and transformation.
For Viscera, this is not about following trends. It is about creating music that matters — music for those who have stood close to the edge, faced their own abyss and still chosen to rise.
